I feel the earth move under my feet...

This was definitely not my first earthquake since I was born and raised in California but this was the firs time that I have been located this close to the epicenter of a quake. I have marked on the map where we live.

A few things were knocked off the wall, things fell off shelves but no major damage. I was just a bit shook up, no pun intended. It was a jerking motion first and then we felt a rolling motion and it lasted for a good little while. We didn't lose power, I am actually shocked that we didn't, however my cell phone did not work for about two hours. My brother Todd called to check on me at about 10:20pm on my cell phone so I know it works now. We are all fine, Sensei, Mugsy and I.

  1. Wow, you live pretty close to the center! Nothing fell over here but the water sloshed a lot in the fish tank. My husband is on travel so I was more shook up by the quake than I think I would have been had he been here for a reassuring hug. During the quake one of my cats came running in with his tail frizzed. He's still on edge.

Take care of yourself, girl. I'm glad you're okay.

  3. Yeowza, you are close! On your map, we're on the next ring out. Have you seen how many aftershocks there have been? Thankfully I only felt the 3.7 today.

  4. Yikes. I was at work still with one of my staff. We kind of stared at each other for like 10 seconds and then it hit us, we were like SHIT! That really is a quake! I was kind of half kneeling under my desk but I was mesmerized by how the overhead lighting was swaying (the lights are suspended from cabling). All was fine at home but I was freaked. I swear to you I can't stop feeling aftershocks at my desk at work now. Today was better, yesterday I definitely felt a lot more. Ugh!
