Last Chance Effort and Yarn Giveaway

This is my last chance fundraising effort. I am participating this weekend in the Relay for Life in Campbell, CA. Relay For Life is a 24-hour event whose mission is to raise money which will be used towards research, education, and programs which support those undergoing cancer treatment. I have committed to raising $500 for the event, I am close but with your help, I can meet and or exceed this goal.

My father died of lung cancer in 1992 when I was 20 years old and my mother is a two time ovarian cancer survivor. I know first hand the struggles of those with cancer and those friends and family members that are there to care for them. This cause is close to my heart in many ways. Cancer is life altering and we all know someone who is or has been affected by this disease.

One way of supporting the event is the purchase of a Luminaria. As the light dims over campsites and team member’s complete laps, the night is brightened by the glow of lighted bags called luminaria, each of which has a special meaning. You can honor a cancer survivor by placing their name under "In Honor of," or you can remember someone who was lost to cancer by placing the name under "In Memory of." Each individual’s name will appear on a luminaria and each will be lit at the ceremony to shine as a beacon of hope for others. You also have the option to send an e-card to inform family members and friends of your special gift. To purchase the Luminaria or make a straight dontaion click on this link.

Anyone that comments to this post AND makes a donation, I will pick one random winner and give them a choice of a hank of either Blue Moon Fiber Arts or Malabrigo. Go ahead and make a donation, help the American Cancer Society and possibly get some yarn!!
EDIT: THIS WILL CLOSE ON SATURDAY JULY 12TH 2008 AT 8AM PST

  8. Waaay too many people are dealing with different aspects of this disease. I've lost my grandmother, my aunt, a high-school friend... my school's former headmaster and a friend's husband are both undergoing chemo right now. Thanks for doing something about it!
